Planning applications

The Parish Council plays an active part in all local planning issues. The Parish Council is a consultee and any comments must relate to planning issues, rules and policies. Planning permission is usually granted if the application complies with policies of central and local government. Typically, reasons for objection would be the site’s planning history, the size of the development, the development envelope of the settlement, infrastructure and accessibility including rights of way.

It is probably the area of the Council’s role that is best known to the community and which can be of the most importance.

To view the planning applications that the Parish Council will comment on please see the agendas of the future council meetings.

To view the decisions of the Parish Council please see the minutes section of the council meetings. Please be aware that the minutes will not be posted online until they have been agreed by the committee at the following meeting.

All planning applications for Ightham can be viewed on the Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council web site on their Planning Portal.  Search applications and enter Ightham in the Location field to show the applications.

Planning Applications Approved:

24/01887/PA – THE COACH HOUSE UPPER BROOMS, Common Road, Ightham, Sevenoaks, TN15 9ED.
Details of Condition 4 (landscaping and boundary fencing) and Condition 6 (external lighting) pursuant to planning permission TM/21/01188/FL (Demolition of existing dwelling, replacement dwelling, associated landscaping and temporary access track).

24/01851/PA – CHURCH OF ST PETER, FEN POND ROAD, IGHTHAM, Row of lime trees R1 – pollarded lime trees at the entrance. Remove all 8 to as close to ground level as possible, tree T1 semi mature sycamore – north eastern boundary near the building. Remove to ground level. Tree is overhanging neighbour building and is becoming too large for the space. G1 – 2 x conifer trees overgrown and encroaching onto the graves to the west of the Remove to ground level. Final cut to be made as close to ground level as possible.

25/00009/PA – IGHTHAM COUNTY PRIMARY SCHOOL, OLDBURY LANE, IGHTHAM, SEVENOAKS, TN15 9DD.
The notification applies to the removal to ground level of a Robinia sp. identified in the report as T10. This tree is leaning towards a school portacabin at 45 degrees with a crack in the main stem at 2.5-3m and exudate present. My QTRA assessment is a failure probability of 1/1k-1/10k which necessitates action to remediate the risk. The tree is currently in direct contact with the extant school fencing, which needs to be upgraded to provide a more secure boundary (and which would necessitate the removal of this tree in any case).

UPDATE FROM WOODFORD HEARING – Cllrs Mitchem and Emmett attended the informal hearing with the Clerk and we are awaiting a decision. Ightham Parish Council were represented by a Barrister, Planning Consultant and Highways Consultant.
